Helene completed her medical degree at Monash University before undertaking specialist training in neurology, later sub‑specialising in Cognitive Neurology. For more than 30 years Helene has worked in memory clinics across the Monash and Alfred Health networks, serving as a senior neurologist at Monash Medical Centre and leading the Cognitive Neurology Program.

Helene is actively involved in the supervision and mentoring of doctors training to become neurologists and is the Wellbeing Lead for the department. She is a member of the Australian Cognitive Neurology Association and the Australian and New Zealand Association of Neurologists.

A long‑time Hampton local and with her boys now mostly grown, Helene can often be found walking her dog, Alba, along the beach. She enjoys staying fit and active, listening to music and travelling.
